The Life and Ministry of
Pastor Andrew Ray
Ray Family Update from June and July 2021
Dear Praying Friends,
Much has changed since I last wrote an update. On a personal front, we were able to sell both of our houses (ours and my mother’s) and find a home to accommodate all of us. It is definitely a seller’s market rather than a buyer’s market, but even the selling of our home was not without multiple hiccups. We have officially left the subdivision life and traded it in for country living. Part of me wishes I had done that a long time ago. It gives me great joy to see my children spend more time outside seeing God’s creation versus spending the bulk of their time in the house with very little good to occupy their time. While we have absolutely loved the outdoors and the beautiful little piece of land that we have, getting the house more livable has been a monumental task. Between trash haul off, water leaks, water heater replacement, floor replacement, rotted flooring, rotted exterior doors, and regular painting and organizing, we find ourselves a little overwhelmed. After all, we are no longer spring chicks :-). Having said all of that, thank you to all who prayed us through this transition. We prayed and you prayed and God helped us to find what we hope will be a little haven of rest on this side of eternity.
In addition to the transition to a new home, we were occupied in the early part of June hosting a Bible conference at Antioch and in the month of July with a Bible conference at Faith Baptist Church in Chelsea, Michigan. Our conference at Antioch went better than could have been anticipated with the messages focused on lesser known servants of God who made great impacts on the early church. The conference was well attended and every message was encouraging and convicting! As for the conference at Faith in Chelsea, the theme centered on precious things in the Bible. I was charged with preaching about the precious word of God and the precious death of the saints. The people at Faith in Chelsea, along with Pastor Summers, are always so hospitable and kind to us. They truly make us feel loved and welcomed. On top of the great people, we were able to enjoy some good preaching and wonderful fellowship with some other pastors. We are truly blessed beyond measure!
On our last night in Michigan, we received an alarming call from our oldest daughter that she was having to take my mom to the hospital. She was unsure what was wrong, but my mom was obviously not in her right mind. At the hospital, they found that she had an infection in her blood. Just this past week, mom was transferred to a short-term care facility for physical therapy to try to help her get mobile again. Please pray that she will work hard and cooperate so that she can get back home in better shape than when she left.
Looking forward, we are getting away to visit some friends of the ministry up north in the early part of August. As soon as we return, we hit the ground running with preaching, teaching a new member’s class, church-wide outreach, and the start of our Bible institute. As for outside preaching, I have heard from a couple of pastors who are looking at September meetings, but nothing is concrete yet on either of those. As soon as we have more information, we will fill you in. Thank you so much for caring about us and for praying for us and with us as we seek to serve our great Saviour. In the coming days, please join us in prayer about:
* Rebuilding LearntheBible.org
* Personal physical, mental, and spiritual strength
* Completion of two printed books
* Choosing an orientation for our auditorium renovations
* Completion of multiple e-books
* The upcoming semester of the Bible institute
