In this politically driven time, the title to this post will cause most to think of President Ronald Reagan, but that is not the Reagan I am remembering. For me, the month of May brings to remembrance the passing of my mentor, Pastor David F. Reagan.
Pastor Reagan was never well-known among his peers, but that suggests nothing of the measure of his usefulness in the Lord's work or of his impact on biblical Christianity. Through LearntheBible.org, Pastor Reagan has anonymously taught thousands of souls the truth of God's word via his honest and sincere approach to the scripture. He will never be identified as the leader of a sect, or even of a sect within a sect, but he made and makes a lasting difference in the lives of all who come across his preaching, teaching, or writing.
Locally, we remember David F. Reagan most for faithfully pastoring Antioch Baptist Church from 1985 to 2007. It was here that he was most influential in my life and in the lives of my family. It was not necessarily his sermons preached or lessons taught, but the private, personal times where he invested in us. While I could include numerous examples, the card pictured below tells the story of how Pastor Reagan encouraged and challenged us. For that and much more, I am so thankful to call Pastor Reagan "my mentor." All that being said, today, I am remembering Reagan, but maybe not the one you are remembering.
